Paddy Phillips defeated Pat Prendergast
31–25 in the District Singles bowls final played at the Services Club last week.
The Services Club Lady Bowlers once again had a very successful trip to Bourke on Sunday to compete in their Ladies President’s Day bowls.
Nine ladies travelled over on the bus, and were accompanied by Ron Hanns.
The overall winners of the day were Marion Williams, who was partnered by the Bourke greenkeeper Bill Higgins.
Anne Williams and Donna Barkley (Bourke) were the overall runners-up.
Marlene Wynd and Pat Dickson took out the morning trophy, while the afternoon trophy went to Bourke players.
Jean Roberts, Marion Williams and Marlene Wynd all won ‘Toucher’ prizes, and Ev Hyde won the raffle.
The Lady Bowlers social game on Tuesday was called off after 12 ends.
In the Golden Oldies competition last Wednesday there was one game of triples played with Greg Delaney, Alan Strange and Ken Harper the winners from Dick Roberts, Sid Fugar and Joe Chandler.
Saturday’s Jackpot Bowls attracted a small field of six players.
The winners were Ron Hanns, Alan Strange and Marlene Wynd, while the runners-up were Paddy Phillips, Bob Williams and Anne Williams. The Jackpot did not go off.—Wrong Bias
