A number of long standing records were broken last week at the Catholic Schools Cluster Athletics Carnival hosted by St John’s School at Ward Oval.
St John’s athletes performed very well with 18 students qualifying to participate at the Diocesan Carnival to be held in Parkes at the end of the month.
Tilly Power’s jump of 1.30m in the 11 years girls’ high jump event broke the long standing record of 1.27m set by Rebecca Hamblin of Nyngan in 1997.
Henry Brookman broke the 8 Year Boys’ 100m track record of 16.62 seconds setting a new time of 16.45 seconds.
Several St John’s students were named age champions and runners-up including: Junior Boy—Henry Brookman (runner-up); Junior Girl—Annie Mugagia (runner-up); 11 Year Boy—Max Hillier (champion) and Jackson Hourn (equal runner-up); 11 Year Girl—Tilly Power (champion).
