Annual event attracts shooters Australia wide

Clay target winners
The 34th Annual Golden Clay Target High Gun winners at Sunday night’s presentations were: Ross Walsh (Overall), Roger Duthie (AA Grade), Ben Volgelzang (A Grade), Tim Kneale (C Grade), Wendy Barton (Ladies), and Jack Collicoat (Junior). Absent from photo are Marcus Bruce (B Grade) and Peter Fizalan (Veterans). The event attracted 174 shooters.

Keen clay target shooters travelled from all over Australia to attend 34th Annual Golden Clay and NSW Junior Masters three day event at the Cobar Clay Target Club over the weekend.

On Friday night the 30 Target Far Western Harvey Norman Cobar Night Point Score Championship attracted a field of 119 shooters.

Local shooters Ben Machul (AA Grade) with a score of 215/216 and Ross Morris (A Grade—92/93) won their respective grades.

A big line-up of 168 shooters featured in Saturday’s events in favourable conditions.
Cobar competitors finishing in the winner’s circle were: 30 Target Western District Beretta Australia Points Score Championships—Jim Manns (1st A Grade, 137/138 and Ross Morris (2nd A Grade, 104/105) and 45 Target Far Western District Empire Hotel Medley—John Martin (2nd B Grade, 97/100).

In the 30 Target Far Western District Cook and Black Single Barrel Championship, Emma Cox, with a score of 49/50, took out the NSW Junior Masters prize.

An even bigger field of 174 shooters contested Sunday’s events, in overcast and windy conditions.

Cobar’s John Polack placed 2nd in the B Grade Division of the 30 Target Far Western District Cook and Black Single Barrel Championships with Jack Collicoat (30/30) the winner of the NSW Junior Masters title.

The 30 Target Marfeesh Milperra Marketing Handicap winner was Mathew Carmichael (128/128).

Cliff Overton, with 30/30, was the Overall winner of the 15 Pair Western Zone Astec Dental Laboratory and Glen Castellaro Double Rise Championship.

Results of the Junior Masters Cup were: Double Barrel—Emma Cox; Point Score, Single Barrel and Champion of Champions—Jack Collicoat; Encouragement Award—Raymond Puckeridge.

The High Gun teams event went to Cobar with a total score of 1365 just ahead of Hay on 1364.—contributed
