New equipment boost for Cobar St John

Cobar’s St John Ambulance volunteers recently took delivery of their new mobile first aid post trailer with equipment donated by St John Western Sydney volunteer trainers.
St John Ambulance State Officer Jan Powell and Western Area Acting Regional Education Officer Brendan Bourne were in Cobar last week to hand over a mobile first aid post to the local St John division.
The camper-style trailer provided by St John, has been kitted out with equipment donated by members of the St John Western Sydney Volunteer Trainers of which Ms Powell is the chairperson.
“Last year we gave the Cobar division financial help, this year we are giving them practical help and this was the most practical way we could think of to help them,” Ms Powell said.
Equipment in the trailer includes beds, a scoop stretcher, fold-up chairs, a table, radio, kettle, water container, a mop and bucket.
“Not only is it a mobile first aid post, the trailer can also be used as accommodation for first aid personnel to camp out.
“It will be ideal for events such as the Louth Races, as the trailer rides well and only takes a few minutes to set up,” Ms Powell said.
St John Ambulance Cobar branch coordinator Anita Hodgkinson said the trailer will be of great help to local volunteers.
‘We’ll also be able to take it along on trail rides and pretty much wherever we need to set up a mobile first aid post.
“We’re very grateful for the donation from St John and also to the local State Emergency Services (SES) division which is where the trailer is currently housed,” Ms Hodgkinson said.
