Cobar Australia Day activities coordinator John Martin said he was pleased with the “enthusiastic” response from local residents in nominating people for awards.

“The talent and the dedication of the nominees is outstanding,” Mr Martin said.

The awards will be presented at Cobar’s Australia Day celebrations at Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool on Tuesday by ambassador Gary Dawson.

A number of other activities are planned for the day including a junior triathlon, the annual Great Duck Race, face painting, swimming relays, a free sausage sizzle, a lamington bake off, big splash competition and an egg and spoon race, as well as other activities at both Cobar Bowling and Golf Club and Cobar Memorial Services Club.
