Roosters appoint Jermyn as coach

Wednesday January 20, 2010

Cole Jermyn has been appointed as the Cobar Rugby League’s First Grade Captain/Coach for 2010.

Jermyn has a long and impressive playing career which spans 21 years.

He first pulled on a pair of football boots to play for the Roosters when he was just six years old and continued as a Cobar junior until Under 12s.

In 1995 he shared the Most Representative Player Award (with Jake Francisco) in the Under 12s competition before heading off to play junior league with the South Dubbo Raiders.

He played Under 14s with the Warren Bulldogs and he won a scholarship at age 15 to play with the North Sydney Bears on the Central Coast where he spent five years.

Jermyn then played for Erina in the Jim Beam Cup before a short stint of playing rugby union in the United States.

On his return to Australia, he returned to the Roosters and was part of Cobar’s 2006 Group 11 premiership winning side.

Cobar Rugby League Club secretary Michael Hart said with the appointment of Jermyn and Cobar High School teacher Ben Wright as the Under 18s coach, the 2010 season was looking promising for the Roosters.

“On paper we have a pretty strong First Grade side for 2010, with a couple of players returning to Cobar and a couple of new signings,” Mr Hart said.
Hart and Jermyn travelled to Bourke on the weekend to meet up with Bourke players interested in joining the Cobar side this year.

“Bourke has 10 players training each week who haven’t previously played for Cobar, with strong interest from another four players who have played for Cobar over the last couple of years,” Mr Hart said.

He said with the return of the Cobar Bowling and Golf Club as major sponsors, the only loose end the club needs to tie up is appointing a Reserve Grade coach.
“That is still open pending further negotiations with Bourke players,” he said.

Training starts in February for all grades with trial games set down for April
