The Cobar Senior Men’s Swimming Club (Yabbies) 2008/2009 season may be well and truly over but they are still celebrating with the club holding their end of season presentations at the Cobar Bowling and Golf Club on Friday night.

Scott Toomey took out the Club Championship honour for the 2008-09 season with Bill Fugar claiming second spot and Murray Harland third.

Toomey was also the club’s 50 Metres champion followed by Murray Harland and John Carswell.

The 30 Metres championship was won by Fugar with Bob Clark second and Matt Harland third.

There was an equal first place in the 100 Metres championship between Fugar and Murray Harland with Clark taking out third place.

The Toomey brothers, Jason and Scott, won the Brace Relay championship with the team of Fugar and Peter Shanahan second and Carswell and Colin Jones third.

The Tom Knight Memorial Shield for the most improved swimmer of the season went to Father Paul Finucane who received some expert tuition from pool manager Peter Shanahan in the latter part of the season.

Kevin Mitchell received the coveted ‘Brush’ award for outstanding performance above and beyond the call of duty on an ‘away’ trip.—contributed
