Festival of the Miner's Ghost
The annual Festival of the Miner’s Ghost kicks off this week with an action packed program of ghostly events. The Cobar Arts Council’s Annual Art Exhibition will officially open tomorrow night, while the new lights at Ward Oval will form the centrepiece of this year’s festival with their grand “turning on” ceremony on Friday night, together with plenty of fun activities at Ward Oval including an exhibition Twenty20 Cricket match, fireworks and more. The story of the Miner’s Ghost will come to life on Saturday morning with a skit performed by street actors during the markets in Drummond Park. Also on Saturday morning the winner of the Design a Logo competition will be announced. On Saturday night all of Cobar’s ghosts, ghouls, monsters and more will be out celebrating at the Monster Ball. Pictured above at last year’s ball are ‘The Bloody Butchers’. The festival wraps up on Sunday with the Girl Guides Family kite flying day at Ward Oval and the Police Charity Golf Day.
