The scheduled women’s golf game for last Wednesday was washed out in what appears to be the growing trend for this year’s mid week round.

Saturday’s game only had four starters for the stableford event which was won by Coral Lindsay with 26 points followed by Sue-Ellen Dunne on 25 points.

The nearest the pins went to Dunne on the 15th hole and Tina Gordon on the 8th hole.

The game set down for Sunday was cancelled due to the majority of lady golfers attending the Rose Bowl in Nyngan over the weekend thus leaving the numbers too small to hold a competition round.

Saturday’s game in Nyngan (with 150 players) was a stableford event with Cobar’s Janine Ryan and Chrissy Grammer the 18 hole runners-up with 50 points.

The front nine hole competition went to Robynne Morton and Narelle Green with 26 points.

On Sunday, up against 169 players (23 from Cobar), Cobar came very close to retaining the Rose Bowl with some great scores from Alma Rogers (58 net) and Gloria Hay (64 net).

Cobar was pipped at the post by only one point by Canowindra.

Other notable players from Cobar were Ann Dunn, who was the 18 hole B Grade Scratch winner and Narelle Green who had a nearest the pin shot in B Grade.

Alma Rogers took out the C Grade Scratch winner title.

Four Cobar ladies are now sporting new handicaps after their good scores.

Wet weather has been forecast yet again for today for the third Trophy Day stroke event.

Saturday is the Cherrywood stroke event and Sunday has a par game set down.

This weekend also has the staging of the Hillston Mixed Open, the Darling River Mixed Open and the Trundle Open .—T’d Off
