Golfie's big bowls event has been run and won

The Golfie’s big bowls event for the year, the Copper City Investments (CCI) Triples Carnival, has been run and won.

The overall winner was the Nyngan team of Kelvin Waterhouse, Mick Parry and John Chalker from runners-up, the Golfie team of Len Milson, Kevin Kershaw and Chris Cooney.

The sectional winning teams were John Chalker’s, Neville Layton’s, Terry Clyde’s, Ken Waterhouse’s, Mark Bloomfield’s, Terry Gale’s, Chris Cooney’s and Colin Heyward’s teams.

In all, 28 teams of triples was a good roll-up, and the Golfie was helped out by the Services Club who made available one of their greens as the Golfie is down to one green with the other currently under repair.

Representative teams travelled from Sydney, Central Coast, Kemps Creek, Newcastle, Mildura, Coleambally, Broken Hill, Parkes, Cunnamulla, Hillston, Nyngan, Trangie, Bourke and Narromine.

The ‘Beaten Stakes’ or correctly, the Repechage competition on Sunday was won by Neil Urquhart, John Goonrey and Jim Goonrey from runners-up Narromine’s Kevin Rider, John Edwards and Bill Prosser.—Max
