Roosters set for Group 11 comp in 2009
Wednesday October 22, 2008
The Cobar Roosters will get the opportunity to contest the Tooheys New Group 11 Rugby League competition in 2009 after the Cobar Rugby League Club elected a new committee at its “11th hour” annual general meeting last Wednesday.
The club had tried twice previously to form a new committee and after an initial lack of interest in the key executive positions, the club was looking as if it may have had to withdraw from the Group 11 competition.
Returning club president Harley Toomey said it was heartening to see a good roll up of 16 rugby league supporters and interested
people to last week’s meeting.
“We were able to elect a new committee with Jenifer Watson taking on the secretary’s role and Therese Mingay stepping into the treasurer’s position,” Mr Toomey said.
Vice president Mark Martin was also returned to the committee along with junior vice president Kevin Betts.
Mr Toomey said there were also a good number of people putting their hands up to help out on the general committee.
The committee will now commence working towards successfully contesting the 2009 Group 11 Tooheys New premiership.
