Club hands out cash to community groups
Wednesday September 23, 2009

Cobar Bowling and Golf Club secretary manager Neil Urquhart (pictured second from left) handed out cheques for $2,000 each to a number of community groups as part of the club’s Community Support and Development Expenditure (CDSE) funding program, raised through part of the profits from the club’s poker machine income. Tony Punzet (St John Ambulance), Tess Lloyd (Cobar Miners Race Club), Shelby Clark (Cobar Bowling and Golf Club Junior Sports Travel Fund), Sharon and David Snelson (Cobar State Emergency Service) and Daniel Stephens (Copper City Sheep Dog Trials) were on hand to accept the donations at the club yesterday. The funds will be used for a range of purposes, with the SES and St John Ambulance planning to purchase new equipment to support their
operations, while the Cobar Miners Race Club and Copper City Sheep Dog Trials put their funding towards next year’s events.
