One local Squalleyball team, Tuwawa, has taken its name from Fiji, a word that means Sleeping Giant, however this team has been far from dormant in the competition with Tuwawa recording their fifth successive Squalleyball grand final win on Thursday night at the youth centre.
The local Squalleyball competition is very popular with its rules closely associated with volleyball.
The game is played on a squash court with the walls of the court used in play.
Tuwawa has dominated the competition for many years and they continued that dominance on Thursday night when they convincingly beat their Gr8 Western contenders three games to one.
The games were close with scores of
21-18, 21-11, 14-21 and 21-16.
The Smugglers had an easy grand final win in the B Grade competition needing only three games to determine a win.
Smugglers defeated their depleted Code of Conduct (COC) opposition three games to nil.
They easily won their matches 21-14,
21-16 and 21-10.
Presentations followed the games.
