Australian Wallaby John Eales was in town on Thursday as a guest of the Cobar and District Rugby Club and one of his duties on the day was to meet the club’s mascot Bruce the Camel.
Both seemed nervous about the meeting
and kept their distance from each other throughout the introduction.
Eales flew into Cobar at midday on
Thursday and then toured the club’s
home ground, the Ailsa Fitzsimmons
Memorial Oval, where he met with
players, members, sponsors and school
children.
He then went onto a luncheon at the Services Club where he was the guest
speaker.
Eales said his visit to Cobar last week was an important one as it was a priority of his to support “grass roots” rugby. .
