Wednesday January 24, 2010
Security requirements for licensed premises providing entertainment was again on the agenda at this month’s Cobar Liquor Accord meeting.
The issue was discussed in matters arising from the previous meetings’ minutes,
with general discussion held about the need for security at functions for seniors or children.
According to the minutes of the February meeting, local police have suggested that security is only required for live entertainment, not background music.
Also on the agenda for discussion at the meeting was the curfew for local licensed premises.
Police urged licensees to be “more
vigilant” about enforcing the 12midnight
curfew, and support the cessation of trading by 2am.
Other matters discussed at the meeting
included local alcohol-related crime statistics; updating alcohol free zone signage; underage drinking and fake IDs and the possibility of placing breath testing units at local licensed premises.
