Wednesday March 24, 2010

Arts in the western region was in focus in Bourke last week when Outback Arts held its annual general meeting, where a number of new faces filled the executive
positions. Amanda Colwell was elected as chairperson of the organisation, while Cobar’s Peter ‘Flora’ Florence was elected as vice chair. Cobar was well
represented at the meeting with interest expressed by Cobar Arts Council in
nominating a delegate for the Outback Arts board. Pictured at the meeting is
Cobar-based Regional Indigenous Cultural Development Officer Anita Burcher,
Regional Arts Development officer Jamie-Lea Hodges, Amanda Colwell, Peter ‘Flora’ Florence, and Cobar Shire Council delegate Angela Webb. At the meeting Mrs Burcher gave an update on Adult Indigenous Art Classes which she has been
facilitating that will culminate in an upcoming exhibition at the Cobar Library.
