Tough going on lush golf course

Wednesday March 24, 2010

Only six players were on hand for Wednesday’s women’s golf par game with all ladies finding the going tough.
Ann Dunn with a score of -4 was the winner followed by Pam Sikora (-6) and Angela Fryer on -9.  The nearest the pin winners were Sally Bannister (7th hole) and Angela Fryer (15th).
Saturday’s stableford event attracted a field of 17 with Narelle Green taking the honours with 37 points ahead of Jannine Wilkin with 35 points. Youlanda Taylor was third (34) followed by Ann Dunn (32), Angela Fryer (29), Janine Ryan (27) and Heather Forster (26). Green and Wilkin had nearest the pins shots on the 8th and 11th holes.
The first Trophy Day of the year was contested on Sunday with big improvements on the last few par games. The ladies are getting back into the swing of things especially Narelle Green who won the day with a +1 score (and no count backs). Youlanda Taylor was second ahead of Ann Dunn after a count back. Both had an even card.
Green (7th hole) and Barb Barklimore (15th) grabbed the nearest the pins prizes.
The ‘much anticipated’ stroke games will commence with the 1st Round of the WGNSW Monthly Medal set down for today and Saturday. These games however may be postponed to a later date depending on the results of a meeting concerning the new ratings system. Players should check the club notice board for any changes.
Sunday’s game is a stableford.—T’d Off
