ICPA state council in Cobar
Wednesday June 24, 2009

Past and present members of the newly re-established Cobar branch of the Isolated Children’s Parents Association (ICPA) joined members of the ICPA NSW State
Council for dinner and drinks at the Town and Country restaurant on Monday night. The State Council meets four times a year to discuss a range of issues raised by their member branches including allowances, boarding schools and hostels,
communications, Country Area Programs (CAP), distance education, early childhood services, rural schools, special education, tertiary and travel. “We take our direction from the branches, we lobby politicians and go to Sydney and talk to the ministers,” State Council president David Cameron said. “Cobar are telling us that they are
finding it hard to afford an education for their kids, something that other people in eastern areas take for granted. Access to boarding schools is beyond many of them.”
