Golfie sportsmen celebrate

Golfers Bill Douglas (A Grade winner), Jacob Ryan (B Grade winner) with men’s golf captain (and member of the Cobar Yabbies Senior Men’s Swimming Club) Peter Brien at the Cobar Bowling and Golf Club’s Sportsman’s Dinner on Saturday.

Members from a number of local sporting organisations affiliated with the Cobar Bowling and Golf Club came together at the club on Saturday night for the annual Sportsman’s Dinner.

The night was very well attended with members from women’s and men’s golf, Golfie bowlers, Cobar Senior Men’s Swimming Club Yabbies and the Cobar Rugby League Club represented at the dinner.

The annual dinner is held in conjunction with the end of the golf season and during the dinner awards were presented to the 2009 winners of the women’s and men’s golfing competitions.

The winners of the Golfie’s singles, pairs, triples and fours lawn bowls 2009 championships were acknowledged as were the Cobar Yabbies 2009 season champions.

Cobar Rugby League Club president Harley Toomey also took the opportunity to acknowledge the sponsorship and assistance the Golfie has given to senior rugby league over a number of years.
