Kubby House Childcare Centre’s staff Brytt Moore, Chelsea Kershaw, Donna Hay, Sharon Banfield and Megan Arthur and Monday’s group of children are enjoying the bright, fresh new look at the centre after it was recently painted.
A new year has brought a new look for Kubby House Childcare Centre which was “freshened up” over the holiday break with a new coat of paint.
The centre received a $8,000 grant from Joblink Plus to paint the interior of the building, with the work carried out by local painter Tom Tumeth over the Christmas holidays.
The centre has also welcomed new staff member Sharon Banfield, who has moved from Lismore and holds a Diploma of Children’s Services.
Kubby House committee president Sarah Arthur said the centre has had a positive start to the year.
“Last year was a tough one for everyone and our enrolments were down a bit, but this year our numbers are already up and it looks like we could be almost full most days,” she said.
She said a number of staff are continuing to study through TAFE and build their qualifications this year.
“Our occasional care program is still operating and going well, and we are looking to do more works around the centre this year,” Ms Arthur said.
Kubby House also received a grant to install a rainwater tank and vegetable garden, which is penciled in to be planted in the coming months.
Ms Arthur said the Kubby House committee remains mostly unchanged, with the exception of new secretary Kylie Harvey.
Ms Arthur (president), Peta Murphy (vice president) and Andy Chen (treasurer) were all returned to their positions at the centre’s annual general meeting late last year.
