Ox Bushies make high score in their Twenty20 cricket night game win

Wednesday January 27, 2010

The local Twenty20 night cricket competition continued last Saturday with the Ox Bushies matched up against the Empire team.

The Ox Bushies batted first with the opening batting pair of Craig Dillon and Stewart Fraser sharing in a partnership of 104 before Dillon was dismissed for 59.

Fraser went on to make 84, which is the highest score in the Twenty20 cricket competition to date.

Other batsmen to make double figures were Alec Fraser (16) and Matt Nicholson (15 not out).

Sixes were hit by Fraser (4), Dillon (3) along with one each by Dan Howard and Nicholson.

Ox Bushies finished their innings with an impressive score of 5/201 from their 20 overs which is also the highest score by a team in the Twenty/20 competition to date.

Wicket takers for Empire were Jesse Brennan with 2/42, Scott Toomey 1/11, Rodney Coleman 1/24 and Matt Crotty 1/ 40.

The Empire team’s pursuit of runs didn’t start well and they never really looked to have a chance of chasing down the large total.

Empire was all out for 59 from 16 overs.

Daniel Milne top scored with 27, which included three sixes.

The only other batsman to reach double figures was Toomey, who made 11.

Wicket takers for the Ox Bushies were Bryan Manns 2/27, Mal Hillier 2/12, Tom Good 1/5, Craig Tanke 1/5 and Matt Nicholson 1/ 3.

The Eagle Boys Pizza Man of the Match award was taken out by Fraser.

Jesse Brennan was named the best fieldsman for the Empire team and Howard was the best fieldsman for the Ox Bushies.

This Friday night’s match will be played between the Powerhouse team and the Cook and Black Young Guns with the duty team being CSA.—contributed
