Peter Brien leads the field for hot golf competition
Wednesday January 27, 2010
A field of 21 golfers braved the warm conditions on Sunday morning to contest a stableford event.
Peter ‘China’ Brien, with a great round of 43 points, just managed to outscore his partner to claim the chocolates prize on the day.
During his pre-match interview, Brien paid tribute to his playing partner from whom he received his winning inspiration.
Brien was followed home by Troy Hartman(43) and Piers Brown (41).
Nearest the pin shots were recoded by Bob Baker, Bill Fugar, Heather Forster, Jamie Gapps and Piers Brown. Brien, Hartman and Brown capped off a good day also winning the nine hole chicken run.
There has been no golf competition for the past two Saturdays as working bees have been held to sieve the course greens.
The back nine holes have now been completed and there will be no more Saturday golf games until the front nine holes have been done.
While the working bees have been fairly well attended more help is needed.
Golfers are encouraged to give a hand for three to four hours on a Saturday morning.
Working bees commence at 7.30am and usually finish at around 11.30am.—contributed
