Railway inspires creative photography

Members of the Cobar Camera Club found the Cobar Railway Station to be the perfect place for learning to take creative shots when they met there on Sunday.
The Cobar Railway Station’s heritage architecture, strong visual lines and the added bonus of a passing train were enough to inspire the creativity of members of the Cobar Camera Club on Sunday morning.
The group, which was formed recently, is led by president Mark Ingram and secretary Ruth Stevens.
Mr Ingram said while it was only a small group on Sunday, it was a “good start”.
“The group that met on Sunday are very encouraged by the ideas, as it not only helps to improve their photography but also lets like minded people get out together and enjoy themselves while practicing photography techniques,” Mr Ingram said.
He said the group is also planning regular fortnightly meetings on Wednesday nights.
“At Wednesday night meetings members can bring in photographs or image files of shots they have taken to get critique from other members.
“Images will be selected for exhibitions and we also intend to have local competitions,” Mr Ingram said.
He said the group has discussed the possibility of holiday social outings with a focus on taking better photos including trips to Bourke, local National Parks, properties around Cobar and weekend trips away.
“The camera club will be an active group and I am sure it will attract much of the Cobar community over time,” Mr Ingram said.
The club is affiliated with the Federation of Camera Clubs of NSW.
