Junior soccer season re-commences in cold conditions

The Cobar Junior Soccer competition resumed on Saturday in sunny but cold conditions at Ward Oval after a break .
In the early game of the Minis competition, Spurs were too strong for Rovers winning
13-2. Spurs’ goals were scored by Ben Griffiths (6), Rickie Whyman (6) and Thomas Bradley (1) while Marley Jones netted both of Rovers’ goals. In the later matches, Mariners overcame a tough United team 3-1 and Wanderers proved too strong for Rangers winning 10-7.
Goal scorers for Mariners were Eli Hausia (2) and Tommy Rogers (1) while for United, Guilherme De Figueiredo scored their only goal. Wanderers’ points were netted by Jack Fazulla (5), Jed O’Neill (2), Raif McMurtrie (1), Harrison Sharpe (1) and Marshall Lovegrove (1) while for Rangers the goal scorers were Kaden Bradley (2), Samuel Piper (2), Xander Wall (1), Todd Polack (1) and an own goal.
The weekly award winners were Todd Polack, Thomas Bradley, Marshall Lovegrove, Marley Jones, Alexandra Motton and Guilherme De Figueiredo.
Tight matches were recorded in the Mids competition with the even competition continuing. The game between Wanderers and Spurs produced a 2-0 win for Wanderers, with both goals scored by John Paul Best.
In the other game United overcame a tough Rangers side 1-0 with Jock Hudson the goal scorer. The weekly award winners were Dylan Boland, Georgina Whiteman, Raymond Dennis, Will Griffiths, Ryan Anderson and Lachlan Mitchell.
In the Seniors competition, Rangers proved too strong for a tenacious Spurs side winning
8-5. Goal scorers for Rangers were Mitchell Davis (6), Bronte Lee (1) and Daniel Cohen (1) while Spurs’ goals were netted by Braydon Pennell (4) and Ethan Brookman (1).
In the Under 18s competition, Spurs defeated United 11-5.
Spurs’ goals were kicked by Jade Buckman (3), Rhys Smith (3), Baden Smith (2), Taylor Gilbert (2) and Tony Place (1), while for United, goals were scored by Luke Hillier (2), Marshall Anderson (1) and Michael Cooney(1).—contributed
