Festival brings out the spirit in Cobar

Wednesday October 28, 2009

Festival of the Miner's Ghost
Drop dead gorgeous: Shane Carter, Jo Carter and Heather Knight at the Monster Ball on Saturday night at Cobar Bowling and Golf Club, just one of the many popular events on this year’s Festival of the Miner’s Ghost program. Festival organiser and Cobar tourism manager John Martin has declared this year’s festival a huge success, with the official opening of the lights at Ward Oval and exhibition Twenty20 cricket match drawing a massive crowd. Mr Martin said the atmosphere at the cricket match was amazing, with a big crowd on hand for the fireworks display. He said the feedback from the Monster Ball was also pleasing, with attendees having a “fabulous” time. A large crowd also patronised the Markets in the Park on Saturday throughout the entire day. Planning is already underway for next year’s Festival which will coincide with centenary celebrations of the Great Cobar Heritage Centre building.
