Police Charity Day golf attracts a field of 124 players

On Sunday 124 players, comprised of 31 teams of four golfers contested the Police Charity Golf Day which was a Four Person Ambrose event.
The handicap event was won by the team of Jay Goonrey, Rob McIver, Steve Dryburgh and John Best with a net score of 516/8.
They were followed by James Russell, Jeffrey Smith, Steve Manns and Bayley Prendergast (547/8).
Winners of the Scratch event were Murray Robotham, Jarrod Marsden, Jamie Gapps and Rob Josephson (62), followed by Mick Williams, Tony Read and Max Phillips (65).
It was a most successful day with the ‘poison carts’ and on-course barbecue all doing a roaring trade throughout the day.
Golfers appreciated the efforts of the organisers, led by Joe Palma, and those workers who all combined to run such a successful and fun filled day.
Another excellent field of 24 turned out to contest the men’s Stroke event on Saturday.
A score of 63 net by Alec Burton proved to be the winning score.
He was followed home by Jay Egan (63) and Murray Robotham (64).
Nearest the pins were recorded by Lee Stevens, Rob Josephson, Alan Sharpe, Garry Wilkin and Bayley Prendergast.
Only six players turned out on Wednesday for the Par event.
David Gordon (+5) won the day followed by Craig Dillon (+4).
Nearest he pins were hit by Dillon, Neville Fugar and Bill Bartlett.
This Saturday will be a Par event, while on Sunday a Three Person Ambrose, sponsored by Rob’s C-Food and men’s golf, will be conducted.—contributed
