U/15 Roosters demolish Eastridge
Wednesday April 29, 2009
The Cobar U/15 Roosters demolished last year’s Dubbo and District Junior Rugby League premiers Eastridge 62-20 in a highly entertaining game at Tom Knight Memorial Oval on Saturday.
Under 15s coach Tony Ellison said the well-drilled young Roosters displayed “flair and panache” and expertly executed moves, with the backline scoring at will on just about every set of six tackles.
The crowd was even treated to a ‘30 year flashback’ with a wall move, resulting in a try out wide.
The big trio of inside backs, Macauley
Dawson, David Watson and Wade Potter all scored three tries each from a large array of moves.
The Dunlevy boys, Cameron and Eathan, both crossed for their own well deserved tries after their tireless efforts in setting up the backs’ tries.
Khaleb Whitehurst crossed the line for the only forwards’ try.
The Roosters eventually ran in a total of 12 tries with the scorers being Dawson (4), Watson (2), Eathan Dunlevy (2), Cameron Dunlevy, Whitehurst and Potter.
Potter also kicked eight conversions while Slade Neale kicked one.
Dawson was named the Man of the Match, while Potter collected the Defensive Award.
Brian Mudugem picked up the Play of the Day award for what Coach Ellison described as “the day’s finest barnstorming run”.—Ron Law
