Food and refreshments in order at Atlas Copco Day

Blues have mixed results
Atlas Copco representative Al Sharpe and men’s golf president Peter ‘China’ Brien (pictured at right) with the Men’s Division Atlas Copco Two Person Ambrose event winners Blake Dunne and Geoff Dunne at the presentations at the Cobar Bowling and Golf Club on Sunday..

Steak and sausage sandwiches plus an ample supply of amber liquid were the order of the day where 70 players turned out to contest the annual Atlas Copco Two Person Ambrose event on Sunday.

The Atlas Copco Company sponsors were led by Al Sharpe and they turned on a great day.

The Men’s division winners on the day went to Geoff Dunne and Blake Dunne with 60¼ net.

While the team of Fay Hardwick and Pam Sikora (67) took out the ladies’ trophy.

The Mixed team event went to Garry and Jannine Wilkin (62½).

The Overall second went to Angela Fryer and Paul Hay while third spot went to the pairing of Michael and Janine Ryan (63¼).

Nearest the pins were recorded by Janine Ryan, Jeb Bishop, Piers Brown, Rob Fing and Wayne Martin.

The Men’s Longest Drive was hit by Garry Wilkin while the ladies’ went to Chrissy Grammer.

A good field of 25 contested the Kelly Cup (stroke event) on Saturday with young Jacob Ryan proving too good on the day with a 64 net score.

His uncle, Michael Ryan, came in second (66) with third spot being taken by Angus Waugh (66).

Nearest the pins were recorded by Matt Egan, Bruce Mitchell, Max Phillips and Ernie Potter.

Wednesday enticed 14 players from under the bed covers to play a par event.

The winner on the day was Jeb Bishop (+8), he was followed by Patrick Bourke (+5) and Paul Hay (+3).

Bishop also recorded two nearest the pins.

A big weekend of golf starts this Saturday with the Annual Herford Cup, a Four-Ball-Best-Ball versus Par event.

Sunday is the Cobar Open, sponsored by Everyday Mining Services, with a tee of time of 8am.
