Bleak day for the Roosters at Tom Knight Memorial Oval

Wednesday July 29, 2009

Bleak day for Roosters
A ray of hope: Will Josephson touches down under the posts for the Roosters Reserves first try and kept his side in the game with the score then at 18-4.

It was a bleak day for the Cobar Roosters and their fans on Sunday at Tom Knight Memorial Oval with all three rugby league sides soundly beaten by visitors Dubbo Macquarie in Round 11 of the Tooheys New competition.

Cobar’s First Grade side matched their Macquarie opposition for a large portion of the first half however once Macquarie broke through the Roosters’ defence, they then continued to do so on a regular basis with the final score blowing out to a 58-6 win for Macquarie.

Sean Cox scored Cobar’s only try of the match which was converted by Steve Ford.

Cobar’s Reserve Grade side was slow off the mark with the visiting Raiders putting 18 points on the board before Will Josephson pushed over to score their first points.

Macquarie also ran away with that match with the final score 60-8.

Cobar’s Under 18s faired only slightly better against the visitors in their game with the Raiders running in 10 tries to Cobar’s two with the final score of 48-8.

Tristan Everett and Zacc Douglas were Cobar’s try scorers.

Cobar travels to Forbes this weekend to take on the Magpies in Round 12.
