Cobar’s Every Day Mine Services (EDMS) has gone one better this year and has won the coveted title of Most Outstanding Regional Business at the 2008 Orana Regional Business Excellence Awards presented in Bourke on Saturday night.
Last year EDMS was the runner-up in this category to a Gilgandra company but after a very successful 12 months, EDMS was named this year’s most outstanding business in the region.
Eleven of the EDMS staff were present to celebrate the company’s win at the Back O’ Bourke function centre on Saturday night along with a number of other Cobar residents representing their businesses in a variety of categories.
EDMS’s Human Resources Officer Sally Rainbow said the award was recognition for all the hard work of EDMS’s employees.
“We are proud to employee so many local people and to continue to be involved in the community of Cobar,” Mrs Rainbow said.
The Cobar contingent had plenty of reasons to celebrate, as in addition to EDMS taking out the top award, the Mosely family (of Manuka and Etiwanda stations) won the Environmental Achievement award and Scott Murphy from TAG Electrical received the Apprentice/Trainee award.
Highly commended awards were also presented to Cobar’s Gecko Espresso in the Tourism/Hospitality section and Cobar 4WD apprentice Amanda Miller who was the runner-up in the Apprentice / Trainee section.
The Moselys, Scott Murphy and staff from Gecko Espresso and Cobar 4WD were on hand to collect their awards.
