Exciting, close games wrap up junior basketball season

CJB High School Girls 2009 grand final winners, Navy Team.
Cobar Junior Basketball (CJB) wrapped up its 2009 season with three energy packed, exciting and close games at the Cobar Youth & Fitness Centre on Sunday.
The High School Girls’ game went into extra time and, after a nail-biting finish Navy came out the winners 28-26 over White.
Hayley Black was named most valuable player of the grand final.
Dream Team were the frontrunners in the opening quarter of the High School Boys’ game, but Green Peas turned the score around to take the game 53–43.
Wade Potter was the most valuable player of the grand final.
In the Primary Division, Blue played a strong game to win 22-8 over Red.
Liam Prince and Tilly Power were awarded grand final Most Valuable Player honours.
At the presentations following the games Aussie Hoops players were presented with certificates and a Aussie Hoop ball voucher.
The Primary division trophies went to: Most Valuable Player Boy—Max Hillier; Most Valuable Player Girl—Marnie Whytcross; Sportsperson (three-way tie)—Kahlie Obray, Rhett Dryburgh and Blye Dawson; Most Improved Boy—Konnar Martin and Most Improved Girl—Emily Carswell.
The High School Girls’ Most Valuable Player was Hayley Black; Sportsmanship—Chelsea Gibson; Rookie of the Year—Samantha Hyde.
The High School Boys’ Most Valuable Player was Wade Potter; Sportsmanship—Michael Beard and Rookie of the Year (two-way tie) Jacob Ryan and Bayley Prendergast.
The Nancy Haslop Shield for Achievement was awarded to Robert Newey and Hayley Black for their willingness to take on
tasks including refereeing, continuing development and credible improvement throughout the year.
