Cindy Mitchell, the 20 year old local woman who produced and directed the stage production of ‘Anastasia—The Russian Princess’ is The Cobar Weekly and Cobar Youth & Fitness Centre Young Achiever for July.
For a long time it was Cindy’s dream to put on a stage production of one of her favourite stories, Anastasia, and after more than a year of planning and organising, her dream came to fruition last month when ‘Anastasia’ played to packed audiences at the Cobar Bowling and Golf Club.
Cindy was nominated for the award by the cast and crew which numbered more than 70 and aged from nine years to adult.
Melissa Langfield, who worked backstage for the production and whose daughter Sara appeared in the show, said Cindy’s achievement was “outstanding”.
“Cindy’s time, effort and generosity really gave Cobar something to look forward to,” Mrs Langfield said.
Cindy’s production was described as a “very professional event that attracted audiences of more than 600 people”.
“She showcased to Cobar the varied talents of young and old actors, singers and dancers,” her nomination read.
The Cobar Weekly and Cobar Youth & Fitness Centre’s Young Achiever of the Month is open to anyone up to 25 years of age who has done well in their field, including sport, the arts, study or career.
