Brodie’s work at the Cobar Show earns her an award

May 2009

May Young Achiever Brodie Mackay
Secretary of the Cobar Show Society Carolyn Arnold nominated 19 year old Brodie Mackay for The Cobar Weekly and Cobar Youth & Fitness Centre May Young Achiever Award for her voluntary work at this year’s show.

Numerous hours of voluntary work as a steward at this year’s Cobar Show have earned 19 year old Brodie Mackay The Cobar Weekly and Cobar Youth and Fitness Centre May Young Achiever Award.

Cobar Show Society secretary Carolyn Arnold nominated Brodie for the award saying that Brodie had undertaken a massive job.

“She assisted months before with horse steward activities which included stall bookings, revamping and updating the horse schedule, looking after specific needs of competitors in horse events and keeping the show office up to date on all enquiries.

“This is a huge job on its own without any other duties and Brodie did this right up until the morning of the show, and she also managed to ride at the show,” Mrs Arnold said.

She said Brodie had proven herself to be very reliable and showed that she possessed a very high level of organisational skills.

The Cobar Weekly and Cobar Youth & Fitness Centre Young Achiever of the Month Award is open to any person living in the Cobar Shire who is under the age of 25 at the time of nomination and has achieved through culture, the arts, career advancement, academic studies or sport.
