Brave Dylan named young achiever

Ellie McLaughlin nominated Dylan Gibson to be The Cobar Weekly and Cobar Youth and Fitness Centre’s September Young Achiever.
A 15 year old local ‘hero’ is The Cobar Weekly and Cobar Youth & Fitness Centre’s Young Achiever for the month of September.
Dylan Gibson was nominated for the award by friends Ellie and Annie McLaughlin after Dylan recently helped out in a fire.
“Dylan was very brave, and if it wasn’t for his actions, lives would have been lost,” Ellie and Annie wrote in their nomination.
The fire broke out in the middle of the night when Dylan and a group of his friends and family were asleep.
The nomination said Dylan was the first to wake up and, despite thick black smoke, Dylan still managed to crawl around and find the other people sleeping and woke them to get out of the fire.
